I’ve been playing the half-life games for a while, since I was in middle school.
They’ve always held a special place in my heart, and although the sequels
are amazing and some of my favorite games, the thing I love the most is
the original (and all the weird quirks about it). There’s such a charm
to it, and I just wanted to talk about it. So this is the first part in
my series where I’ll talk about it. If you want to know some more stuff
about this great game and other stuff, I would highly recommend
PurpleColonel’s
series ‘Cascade'.
So Half-Life was originally called ‘Quiver’ in development, and was
developed alongside another game, titled ‘Prospero’, but it was
eventually cancelled as people began to work more on Half-Life.
Written by Marc Laidlaw, and under CEO Gabe Newell, they published
their game in 1998 with Sierra Entertainment, a company who published
many PC games at the time. Half-Life would release with 2 demos, one
distributed with graphics cards called ‘Half-Life: Day One”. Day One
contained the first 5 chapters, from Black Mesa Inbound to We’ve Got
Hostiles (including the Hazard Course) and another distributed online,
“Half-Life: Uplink” Distributed online from Sierra’s website. Uplink
had a whole new short campaign, showing off a ton of what the game had
to offer. But I’ll get back to Uplink later. With the release in 1999,
it sold incredibly well, around 200,000 copies by around November.
In Half-Life, you usually begin with the Hazard Course. Due to it
being updated, I’ll describe the PlayStation 2 Version first. Arriving
on a tram, Gordon Freeman enters a large room to begin training for
Black Mesa, the research facility he is going to work at. The
scientists there talk to him and mention he has already signed the
waivers needed to begin the course, and he rides a lift down. At
the bottom he learns to Jump, Duck, ‘Duck-Jump’ (crouch jump) and
all the other movement necessary. In the original, there weren’t
invisible walls all over the place and you were able to jump to
your death or skip to different places, as well as take secondary
routes. This is gone in the PS2 version, which has invisible walls
everywhere. Now this is what I like about the GoldSrc Half-Life games,
they feel really expansive. Now some parts ARE tedious and need you
to do specific weird things, but those are few and far between, using
a barrel to complete a cable’s current in Blue Shift for example. But
in other places, like the Hazard Course, you can just jump around
obstacles, like in the Long-Jump part where you have to rotate a
platform? You can just jump around it. I really like megastructures
in games, like Aperture Science in the Portal games, but the different
thing about Black Mesa is it could actually exist. Sure, someone COULD
make Aperture Science real, kind of, but black mesa being a sprawling
science facility with its own transport system, dorms, announcement
system, admins, It just feels so real and feasible. Some of my favorite
mods to play are ones that let you explore parts of the facility
pre-disaster, seeing people work, and go about their day. That’s
why I REALLY like the Hazardous Course 2 mod, which has amazing setpieces.
In the next part I’ll write about the path the game takes and it’s development.

This is my s&box review. It will be a bit more serious than normal.
I think that it is a fine game. The recent changes that are
announced sound good. I'm very sorry for Garry for how bad
the backlash got, but I'm glad to see he took the feedback
and his team is working on it. I think his "Netflix for games"
ambition had already been proven to not work as a paid platform
just by the existence of Roblox, and how it's not going great
for them, even with it being free. Speaking of free, I paid
$20 for the game at launch, and played for a few hours. It
wasn't my cup of tea. I had played the developer beta beforehand
and some games got me, but at launch I was severely disappointed
with the amount of AI slop. Now that the game is becoming free,
I am glad for new people (and it will be easier to get friends
to join) and am a little sad that all I will receive are some
exclusive cosmetics, but hey, what are you gonna do? The
performance. It does not run great on my computer, which for
the most part runs things well. I had to turn everything
from high to medium, just because every time I hovered over a
different piece of clothing my game would freeze for 5 seconds.
Finally, the game being a "successor". It should not have been
advertised as Garry's Mod 2. I am glad they tried to steer away
from it, but when your steam page describes you as the successor
to Garry's Mod, you should expect them to get mad when your game
is an engine for developers, and a kind of roblox wannabe. I am
glad they are taking the feedback to heart, and overall I believe
it is a good game, just very misguided. The thing that has kept me
hooked on Garry's mod all these years is that it is a full sandbox,
you can grab whatever you want from the workshop and do whatever you
want wherever you want, with 20+ years of community and progression.
There is no doubt in my mind that s&box will eventually become
great, but eventually in the state prior to this announcement,
you have to ask yourself if "s&box" is a sandbox game or a sandbox
engine. …THANK GOD YOU GOT RID OF THE SAUSAGE PEOPLE. I will make
an update article within a year to check in with this game, by the way.

I’ve been going down a rabbit hole, as I tend to do,
and I have gotten obsessed, which I tend to
do, with Half-Life for the PlayStation 2.
I’ve talked about this version a bit before,
but just in passing. The reasons I like it
are an enigma to me, but here’s some shit
I’ve discovered while going through it.
So for the 57th issue of the Official
US PlayStation Magazine, the included demo
disc contains the half life demo, ‘Uplink’,
when you input a cheat code to unlock the extras
menu in the base game and then put in the demo
disc, it will load up uplink. (I put this on
the wikipedia page). Speaking of the cheat codes,
they’re all hidden in maps, for example in the
Nilanth fight, (spoilers for a 27 year old game)
inside the first teleport room, if you crouch
under the water, you can find a cheat code there,
and in the hazard course, if you look under a
platform in the dark room you can find another.
Most of these are from supadupaplex, the
developer of the Phenomenal Half-Life:
Blue Shift PS2 port. They’ve been gone
from the internet from around 2023 though,
with no activity on any of their accounts.
I hope they’re okay. In the meantime, I got that
demo disc. It’s pretty neat. Here’s a few other
things that aren’t FULLY related, but whatever.
For the past TWO YEARS. I have been searching
for ONE CD. I’ve been looking for the
‘Half-Life: Further Data’ cd. I have never seen
one on ebay, or ANYTHING. None. Nada. Nil. Oh
yeah, and: I HAVE AN RSS FEED NOW! Just put in
celshaders.com/feed into the app of your choosing
and get new posts straight to you! Big thanks to my

My friend group finally beat Big Walk! And by
beat, I mean the normal ending. And man, I just
got to say that it was an incredible experience,
though the hardest puzzle was getting SCHEDULES
TO LINE UP. We nearly had to cancel a planned
session like 5 times in 3 days before it worked
out. But when it did, the game was amazing. We
beat the [SPOILERS] Silent Orb in under an hour,
and it was just amazing. The fact that we
basically made our own silent communication
techniques while playing the game and were able
to use them to beat it was crazy. Such a well
designed game. We plan to 100% it eventually, we
even had an extra red object when we finished
the black tower. Since you can’t talk, and text
chat also has to be disabled and replace

It’s officially the spookiest month of the year! And today I’ll get to tell
you about how I almost died because of an amazon item. I have a tv
hooked up to a bunch of games. It’s a big interconnected system,
where component cables go to a converter to HDMI, and that goes
into a 7 input HDMI switch, which goes into a capture card and
into my computer and my tv. I got
kingdom hearts for the ps2 a
few days ago, and when the tv didn’t get any input I thought
the capture card or the cable for it was broken. After hours
of trying different things I figured out the HDMI switch wasn’t
outputting anything. After looking up the brand, the HDMI
switcher brand was discontinued and had reviews saying
it broke for them after a little while too. So $50 down
the drain right? Not a big deal. It sucks that it’s that
expensive but whatever. I go to unplug the switch, and
the COVER OF THE PLUG COMES OFF SHOCKING ME. THIS SHITTY
AMAZON HDMI SWITCH ALMOST KILLED ME BY CREATING THE EQUIVALENT
OF A FORK IN A OUTLET. AND NOW I’M DOWN FIFTY DOLLARS.
Thank you for listening to my spooky tale. Yes I eventually did play kingdom hearts.

Something that always interests me are older games with multiple discs, Yeah,
I love Tiger Woods for the Gamecube. There’s just something so magical
about playing through a part of a game and finding out that was only
part of it on one of the discs. Sure, it may be a little annoying,
having a break in a game for a few seconds, but it was necessary
to fit all that shit in the game. In more modern times, usually a
disc for a game downloads a ton of the data, and the disc just
acting as a licence, which is bullshit. One that I find interesting
is final fantasy 7 on the ps1, which there will be minor spoilers
for. In the game, Most of the game part of it is on every disc,
the part that took up most of the storage were the full-motion
videos, so you COULD swap any disc out for any other, but it would
have the wrong cutscenes and have some funny effects. Funnily enough,
when they “remade” final fantasy 7, it was only a bit of the first disc,
and the second part was the other part of the first disc! Wow! I sure love
smaller parts of a story stretched out and changed! (Hey, really quick, I’m
not the biggest fan of FFVII remake, as it’s basically the final fantasy 7
equivalent of scott pilgrim takes off, where it changes parts of the
story with the same setup and stuff. I like scott pilgrim takes off,
but not the remake. Also, I fucking HATE how they’re going to continue
making FFVII games, JUST MAKE MORE FINAL FANTASY GAMES. WE DON’T NEED
MORE.) Metal Gear Solid is another example of having more than one disc,
same with xenogears.

I am a very humble horse rancher. Today my horses began to act up,
jumping up at my house’s windows, ringing the doorbell,
as if they were trying to tell me something. One of them wasn't there,
and stayed back in the barn. Well, I assumed he was at the barn,
because I didn’t see him. After going back to the barn and looking
around for almost an hour, Charlie-Horse wasn’t anywhere to be found.
But right next to the barn, was a brand new horse stable. The horses
began to speak: “Now that we’re at the barn, we can talk to you in
your language.” The smallest horse said. Then the big horse walked
up and said: “Last night, we prayed to our god, named Source, for
a new stable to stay at. Sources… tell me that Charlie is stable.
I said: ‘Please god’ but they would not change it. We don’t know
what to do to get him back.” The horses pleaded for me to help,
but being just a farmer, there was nothing I could do.
I prayed to my god, but nothing happened.
I tried praying to the horse god, source,
but nothing happened. Slowly, my horses started to leave
as they too prayed to turn into other things to help the
rest of themselves. The small horse became a new trough,
The big horse volunteered to become a large supply of food
for the remaining ones. Now I was down to my last horse of
this barn, the little baby horse. Who only wished for one
thing: his family back. Suddenly, the Charlie-horse was back!
Then, the small horse! And then the big horse! All the horses
were back and vowed to never again wish for things, when they
were already well off in my care. This truly was our turning point. USA.

and I just GOTTA talk about it. [This review will have spoilers later.] ENDACOPIA
is a (sort of?) point and click adventure game that makes use of pixel art and
3D graphics. It seems very reminiscent of old point and click adventure games
that have somewhat nonsensical solutions to problems. At some points can give
you a head-scratcher, but the hint system can help you a LOT when you’re stuck.
The characters are all very charming, and the game can give you quite a spook.
The soundtrack is amazing (I love the trailer music) and it’s fun to find secret
ways to do stuff.
[Spoilers!] Now that you’ve obviously played the game to completion, let’s talk about my
playthrough. I’ve heard people saying that there are certain orders to play the
game in, but that’s not true, you can play the game’s three main areas in any
order, but the house interludes are always in the same order. My first playthough,
I went in this order: Misery Town, Corporation(?), and Timesville. And I DO think
you should do timesville last, Or at least do a bit of it and then finish one of
the other areas, as it is a LOT. When I got the metal detector and that ghost thing
started to chase me, I didn’t notice because I was checking a DM. and when I looked
back, I saw it creeping towards Mellow. (I SHIT MYSELF!!!!!! :DDD) Anyway this game
is good yay back to band

[This review will have spoilers] A week ago, I got really into a fangame for an ARG, the ARG being
INTERLOPER
by anomidae, and the fangame being
SOURCEVOID ONLINE by 333 SOFTWARE.
To save you a 7 hour lore recap,
the “source void” is a large interconnected void full of maps from the source engine. Places from games
like: Half-life 2, it’s episodes, Portal (I don’t know about portal 2), Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike
Source, Garry’s mod (this includes community made maps), as well as others. The game is always online,
(hence the name) and you put in “seeds” to spawn in a random location in the void and meet up with your
friends in the same location. You can pick up props and use your flashlight, move around, and fall from
maps to escape entities that will chase you. These entities include:
Umbrella Men - From the ARG, they act as predators in the void, their presence are made known by a jingle.
VRAD errors - error models that act similarly to Umbrella Men, they also play a sound when approaching.
Zombies/Mimics - When you are killed by an Umbrella Men or VRAD errors, you leave behind a mangled corpse.
If you wait around by one of these for long enough they will wake up and begin to chase you.
ALL THE ABOVE ENTITIES WILL CAUSE YOU TO CRASH.
Player Mimics - I have yet to encounter one, other than hearing them several times, but they repeat sentences players say.
Cones - I have seen a cone twice, once where it came back several times. From what I can tell, It acts very similar to a
developer, so I am not yet convinced it is an npc. It can spawn in explosive barrels, hover outside a map,
Repeat a lot of sentences, like DEAD MAN BAD or KILL MAN BAD.
Trolls - Not a real entity. It was a patreon member, (patreon members can change their models and play sound
effects), and one of them went invisible (bug) and played several sound effects.
Overall, the game really makes you feel like you’re in an ARG, and it’s fun to chat with people while you’re
falling, and people in the community are very nice. Although the prop-grabbing physics are weird, due to server time,

SUPRISE! It’s a DOUBLE REVIEW! Next up we have BIG WALK
by house house. If I were to describe it in once sentence
to someone who’s never heard of it, I’d say: “Breath of the Wild, but multiplayer and focused on puzzles.”
although it’s a silly way to put it, because there are many more differences. Let’s get negative stuff out
of the way first. The voices are pretty quiet sometimes, and it’s weird that there aren’t separate sliders
for main audio volume and voice volume. But the update they pushed recently helped with the quiet voices
greatly. Now that we’ve gotten the negatives all out of the way, lets move on to what I like about the game.
HOLY SHIT THIS IS GAME OF THE YEAR. I played the game with 3 other friends, and so far, we’ve only completed
probably 5% of the game. [This is where spoilers may start] We were able to unlock both the 2nd area and the
big red tower. We’re working on opening the gondolas. We’ve gotten like 10-11 ‘gourds’ or whatever you call
them. We have gotten separated from each other quite a few times, once, my friends went to the red tower
before we left the starting area by glitching out somehow, and we kept hitting the flare at the center
of the beginner area, and they kept hitting the flare at the top of the tower until we gave up and @’d
them in discord to get their asses over here or we will reset the game. (we needed 4 people for the stack
puzzle). Another time, one of us got turned around when we left the green tower for the red tower,
(we were done for the day and were putting a bunch of garbage in the lost and found) and they got
turned around and went BACK to the green tower. We used the megaphone we found to shout all the way
across to talk to them, and they used the laser to communicate back. It was only until they started
heading over that we remembered all the towers have radio stations on them that act similar to walkie
talkies. Anyway, BIG WALK IS GOOD. If you haven’t played it, PLAY IT. DON’T LOOK AT THIS SPOILERED
REVIEW!!! JUST SEE THAT I SAID IT WAS MY GAME OF THE YEAR AND TRY IT!!!!!!! GO GO GO.
oh also it was my birthday 5 days ago lol

Sometimes I feel like I was just a little too late to do stuff on the internet, I grew up
watching creators go to stuff like vidcon when it was in it’s prime, start collaborations
and make amazing art and entertainment, and now that I’m not a kid everything just goes
to shit. Vidcon this year was apparently pretty AI heavy, and let’s be honest, youtube
itself has been getting shittier for years now. Most people who want to be “Influencers”
(fucking hate that word btw) go on mind numbing shit like tiktok and instagram to chase
fame instead of creating for themselves. I mean that’s the whole reason I started writing here.
I don’t mean for this whole post to be a downer, so here’s something that doesn’t suck.

Do you ever agree with some people’s points but they sound like huge pretentious assholes about it?
Well have I got the thing for you! With this template, you too can safely agree or disagree
with someone! Here ya go:
You make a lot of good takes, and while I don’t quite agree with how you go about things,
there are certainly valuable things to learn from your argument. While I agree with ____,
I’m too afraid of having an opinion that goes against the status quo set by others to FULLY
agree with it. Something I do not agree with, however, is how you ______ to prove a point
Although it is something I can totally see doing myself, I cannot do it for those reasons.

Aw shit have I really not done an update in 10 days?? Well I WAS going to finish my huge
reflections on the error of my ways and how that’s made me feel distant from people but
is largely the fault of my lack of self confidence, But I might as well just put something else out instead. First up is Splatoon Raiders: It’s everything I wanted
for the game. The difficulty is perfect (and it’s hilarious the easy mode is called
‘tourist’), and the gameplay is extremely well designed. It sucks when you fail a raid,
especially when you’re a few sublayers down, but the skill points that you earn make up
for it, because you can upgrade and go back down! It took some of the rougelike elements
from the ‘Splatoon 3: Side Order’ DLC, and mixed that with Salmon Run and Singleplayer modes
to create an experience that is definitely worth the (pretty cheap for a nintendo game) $50.
The ability to call for other players’ help for a Raid is very helpful, especially if
you need just a little bit of a push to finish it. All the little side content you can
do is very fun, The crane minigame is cool, and I like how the boxes are exactly where
you leave them when you go out. I do wish there were more hairstyles though, hell, the
could’ve taken a bunch from Splatoon 3 and it would be fine by me.
Okay, Next up
is a game I’ve been getting a lot more into recently, Voices of the Void, I was
introduced to it by watching Vargskelethor Joel’s streams on the game, and after
watching like 20 of the highlight videos I had to try it for myself. It wouldn’t
be an exaggeration to call it a horror game, But that doesn’t fully describe it.
If I were to try, I’d say it were a spookysimsourcelikesandbox. Several of the events
seen tailor made for Joel and they also scare the hell out of me, I don’t want to
spoil a lot of the game, But if you want a well crafted spookysimsourcelikesandbox,
this is the game for you. Well, I’ve been writing for about 15 minutes, I think
that’s enough for today, I’ll get back to work on my other projects now that I’ve
figured out how to help myself actually do work.

I don’t like to think of this as a blog, mostly because I don’t think it really qualifies as one,
Sure I write stuff on the internet no one will ever see but I think the word blog has a
lot of negative connotations with it. I think there’d better be a new word for it but
that sounds stupid as hell. The word blog came from the word weblog (web log) and was
cut in half by Peter Merholz, into the words “we blog”, And this is kind of like a dev
log or a ramble shit or whatever. So like devlog would be like vlog, but that’s
already something (video log). And rlog sounds bad too, So I’ll do Fucking Bullshit Log.
FBlog. It still sounds like blog, but it’s actually fucking bullshit.

[SPOILERS FOR DELTARUNE
] Now that it's been a few weeks since deltarune chapter 5 was released,
I’ve gathered my thoughts about it. The gameplay is the best of all of the chapters.
I REALLY hope that they reuse parts of it in the next chapters, Similar to how the
climbing gimmick from chapter 4 was reused quite a bit in this one. I’ve overheard
a lot of people saying that asgore was vagueposting near the end of the chapter in
his monologue, And while I don’t personally agree with that, (I think it makes since
he wouldn’t bring up something that was probably really bad with his child) I can see
why some people feel that way, though to me it would feel like a random lore dump.
Anyway, all the characters were very enjoyable and extremely funny. I have also heard
criticisms about the chapter being too funny and lighthearted for a lot of it
, I agree that at some points it can be a bit much, It was always advertised as
one last really fun chapter before the storm, (excluding weird route). Speaking of
which, The weird route was extremely chilling, Especially the ending and the part
where noelle is not speaking, only thinking. The way you abort the route is not by
hitting stop but by just not saying proceed fast enough, and the game just continues
the normal route with several changes, but what worries me is Susie will still show
noelle castle town, and that won’t be good after her going crazy and then thinking it’s
a dream. Anyway, continuing with the normal route, the secret boss is one of my favorites,
and I really enjoy all of the parallels between Pink and her Body and the Soul and Kris.
Overall this is an extremely good and well made chapter, with amazing gameplay and
fantastic art, It might be one of the best chapters in the game so far, Although it’s not
without flaws.

The discussion of video games, and PC costs altogether in recent times has gotten so much worse.
And what really put the nail in the coffin for me was the reveal of the Steam Machine’s
price point for the base model of $1049.00. I feel what most people were expecting is a
console that can do PC things, But what we got is a PC that acts like a console. The price
was AI’s fault. It has a PC price point but with a console user market, Most of which,
frankly do not understand pricing. There are many people now saying that anyone who defends
valve for the pricing is a valve bootlicker, much like how anyone defending nintendo in any
way when the Switch 2 launched was a nintendo bootlicker, and it just feels like most people
don’t understand that the world is really fucked right now. Either that or nuance is truly dead.

the movie is almost complete, and hasn’t been sent to theaters, in the top corner of the video there’s text that says: “For Brazillian Accessibility Reference Only”
(Yes, Brazilian is misspelled with 2 L’s) which as far as I know isn’t a think that exist. The name in the center is one “antonio cavalieri junior” which doesn’t bring up
anything on google or linkedin, but to be fair whoever he is could just not be on those sites. The timestamp starts at 00:35:31:17, which is just about the time as the ending

The new GLITCH show, GAMEOVERSE, just came out, and the amount of hate it’s getting for basically
just existing is wild, and has set animation twitter on fire

This just in, local reporter eaten alive by live crocodiles on live TV in the commonly lived in area of the living city. Circumstances point to the subject being dead,
as you can see the camera feed of the reporter went dead, and everyone around them have been dead silent. This deadly attack has been devastating for everyone,
as they are all devastated. Devastating, isn’t it Megan? Yes clark, absolutely devastating. I, like everyone else, am devastated. This deadly attack that caused
everyone to go dead silent, the one where the camera feed of the reporter went dead, pointing to the reporter being dead, dead in the living city, the commonly
lived in area, shown on live TV. Truly devastating. More at 11

Coding is cool and all but it really hurts my brain to do html and stuff for this website. It took me like two weeks to make it look like this,
and I feel like I'll probably leave it like this for a while. The domain costs me $11 a year,
and my friend bought it for me, so i’m trying
to utilize it a lot. I don’t want to buy a server or self host, so that’s why I use github pages. Funnily enough, as I was adding this post,
the thing decided to make me go through hell to add that link to the image. Thanks.

This is Miyamoto. I’ve hijacked the Nintendo account to try and contact the outside world. I have been held hostage for the past

It sure is handy that MOST numbers after 3 use “th” after it because then i can keep procrastinating on writing more things.
The more days of spring that go by the more i wonder where Toby Fox’s spring newsletter is. The progress on my game,
SHAKEBREAK is going well. I’ve almost written something. The basic movement sprites are almost done which you can check
out over on the shakebreak part of this site.

A thing I very much enjoy doing is messing with people, because gaslighting is hilarious, even though it’s not real.
A few weeks ago in friend discord server named “Communsim” I repurposed an old account, renamed it to Karl Marx,
and kicked a member of the server, and reinvited him along with Karly boy clearing me of suspicion from the audit log.
All I had to do was play it cool, as they usually know something is me immediately. As soon as the CEOs of uno and shit
noticed how popular one of the spinoff card games were they started pumping them out. Weird.

I’m not a web designer, at least not professionally, so that’s why this site kinda looks like shit,
but at the same time it’s close to the aesthetic that I wanted anyways. It’s more difficult editing
this site on github, which is how it’s hosted, but at least it’s free. The amount of people who agree
with the “Just give me the fucking .exe” post is crazy to me. Using github isn't that hard, it’s just
slow or annoying sometimes.

When talking to others about internet history it's odd how often people are surprised
by how vulgar "citizens" were. I was talking with one of my friends about WWWW1, (World Wide Web War 1) and he wondered how people could
get so worked up over a bit of internet drama. And I do understand, because nowdays there's new drama every day and we've become desensitized
to the constant barage of bullshit.
